网络研讨会: From powders to pharmaceutical preparations: The importance of particle size

Particle characterisation is a standard and essential analytical procedure in the pharmaceutical industry, as it has a direct influence on product performance. Traditionally, sieve analysis is the technique used to determine the size distribution of both active ingredients and excipients. However, this method has several disadvantages, such as long processes, a limited number of distribution points and results that are not very reproducible over time, as they often depend on the user and the sieves’ wear.

The large Microtrac product portfolio avoids the disadvantages of certain techniques and assesses, depending on the particle size range and the sample’s features, which instrument is most suitable for optimizing the analysis of powders, but also of pharmaceutical preparations such as tablets and suspensions.

In this webinar, different techniques such as Laser Diffraction, Dynamic Image Analysis, Dynamic Light Scattering and Zeta Potential/ Streaming Potential will be presented. We will then introduce some application examples to show the potential of each technique to improve quality control and research processes in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Technical features and strengths of laser diffraction
  • Technical features and strengths of dynamic image analysis
  • Colloidal systems: nanoparticle analysis, DLS
  • Stability of colloidal systems
  • Application examples
